[französisch tiziu'zu], Tisi Usu, Stadt in Nordalgerien, 190 m über dem Meeresspiegel, am Nordfuß des Djurdjura-Massivs, 100 km östlich von Algier, 92 400 Einwohner; Sitz der Bezirks-Verwaltung; Universitätszentrum (gegründet 1975); Handelszentrum der Großen Kabylei mit vielfältigem traditionellem Kunsthandwerk (jährliche Messe im April); Hotel- und Touristikfachschule; bedeutende Feigen- und Olivenölproduktion, elektrotechnische Industrie; Eisenbahnendpunkt (Schnellbahn von Algier). 10 km westlich liegt das größte Textilkombinat des Landes in Draa Ben Khedda.
 
 
Tizi-Ouzou konnte in der Kolonialzeit wegen des zähen Widerstands der Berberstämme Beni Yenni und Irathen erst 1851 von den Franzosen erobert werden. Infolge planmäßiger Industrieansiedlungen erfährt die Stadt seit 1972 ein starkes Wachstum, der Stadtkern um die alte Moschee ist heute bedeutungslos.
